Banberry Placehas added several new Farbenmix patterns. They make some of my favorite designs. The only thing is that none of the new patterns are in English, yet. I was so excited to see them, and so disappointed when I realized they were in German. Hopefully, their English translations will be out soon. I sent an email to Farbenmix directly to see when the English versions would be out. Hopefully, I’ll get an answer soon. I’ll update when I can.
I’m going to make Wednesday, Word Out Wednesday. This will be my day to review patterns, fabric, and other things as I see fit.
So for our first Word Out Wednesday, I’m going to share my recent knit purchases. I’ve never sewn knit fabric before, but I think that it is way past due. I have a toddler and what better fabric to be dressing her in.
I’m in love with these finds. All of them I purchased from Sewzanne’s , except for the hot pink rib knit. This I picked up at
Jo-Ann’s. It was perfect to match the fairy print.
This mermaid print is so cute. Who doesn’t love mermaids? Especially for a little girl! I thought this would be perfect as we head into the summer months.
The multi-colored dot knit is a spandex blend. It will be perfect for a swim suit. It is so vibrant in person. The colors just really jump out at you.
I purchased the other dots for some basics. I thought it would be nice to have a couple of basic pieces for mixing and matching.
I love the fairy fabric. This is my absolute favorite of the fabrics. The print is so bold and vibrant. The yellow is just the right shade.
All of the colors are so vivid. Each shade works perfectly with each other.
The rib knit that I found at Jo-Ann’s matches the hot pink fairy perfectly. It was a lucky find.
I’m not really sure exactly what I’m making with these fabrics, but I know that I can’t wait until I get started on them. I think they’ll make perfect clothing items for my daughter for Spring/Summer.
I recommend stopping by Sewzanne’s Fabrics online shop and check out the excellent knit selection. Wish me luck as I branch out into sewing something new.
they produce a little uber-geek.
My son and I were watching Mythbusters last night. Mind you, he is only four. They had built a robot that paddles on a surf board. Here is the conversation that resulted:
My son, “It would be fun to do that!”
Me, “Yeah, it would be fun to learn to swim, wouldn’t it?”
My son,”No, I meant build a robot!”
This is what us geeks live for as parents!
bringing in the new. How is it that I still have the same cheap kitchen utensils that I had when I got married 11 years ago? They were never meant to be a permanent fixture. They came in a bag at Wal-Mart for a couple of bucks. They are beige and stained from years of use. I just hate them every time that I pull one out of the drawer.
Today, I decided enough was enough. It was time to replace them. I bought a nice dark grey set from Target. I also picked up a new colander, stainless. My plastic one was melted on one side about 4 years ago, and I still have it in the cabinet. I also got a small cheese grater. That is something that I’ve wanted for sometime, but just never picked up.
I have to remember from now on that there is a life to certain items. I shouldn’t hold on to things when they really just need to be laid to rest. These old beige kitchen utensils have served their purpose, now they need to go the way of all things. There time has come and went.
I have started this venture of replacing the extremely old items in our house a little at a time. Last month, I replaced the 11 year old toaster that really didn’t toast anymore. They new four slice stainless model is working extremely well and really makes my mornings a little happier.
Now, I need to look through all of my old towels and replace the ones that I took to college with me. They really don’t even dry the water from my body anymore.
Last week was a nightmare of chores. I hope to have some new crafty things with pictures to show this week. I have some fabric to share also. I can’t wait to share some things with all of you. I’ve really got to find time to craft more in general. It is so hard sometimes when you are playing the single parent role. I really hope to start some spring/summer clothing items soon. I also have several fun non-clothing projects to come. The only problem will be deciding what to move to next.
