I am please to announce that Wondermommy is now on Etsy. All of the dishcloths that you saw last week are now listed. I’m going to be adding many more items in the coming week. You’ll see crocheted, sewn and probably others types of hand crafted items.
When I post an item on this blog that is available for purchase on etsy, I’ll post this image:
All you will have to do is click on it and it will take you to the item for purchase.
I’m really excited about offering my items to all of you for purchase. I hope you will be pleased with all that I add to the shop.

The chain stitch is the most important stitch in crochet. It is the way that you begin almost every project. It is simple, but essential to learn. If you want to learn to crochet, this is the best starting point for you. This is a good video showing how to chain stitch. I will say that I do not wrap my yarn around my hand like this lady does. I simply place the yarn behind my pinky and over my pointer finger. You will have to find the best way to hold the yarn yourself. It is different for everyone. You need to find a way to hold it that allows the yarn to move freely, but also allows you to control the yarn.
Today, we are going to learn about blocking. Sometimes when you crochet an item, especially, a square…it just isn’t quite the right shape. That is where blocking comes in. You can stretch a piece to the right dimensions. You also need to starch some items so that they will hold their shape. It is especially useful to starch doilies and other thread works.
There are a variety of ways to block. I’m going to provide a variety of websites that have discussed blocking before. They go into much more detail than I ever could:

I have one thankful thought for today. I am thankful for water. We take water for granted. Much of the country is in a water crisis. We should be thankful for every glass full that we get out of the tap. Thank you Lord for the water that nourishes and cleanses my body. Thank you for the water that makes the plants grow. Not only am I thankful for the water, but I am thankful that I live in a country where I have running water. It is so nice to be able to turn on the tap and have clean water flowing from it. I am so thankful that I don’t have to beat my clothes on a rock or walk miles with a bucket just to have fresh water. Thank you Lord for fresh, running water.
