Say It in English

June 12, 2008

Do you fall in love with a Farbenmix pattern only to find out that it is in German and you don’t speak German?  I often do.  I thought this was a lost cause.  I wasn’t going to buy a pattern that I couldn’t read.  Then, I found the English sewing guides that are available online.  You can find them by going to: http://www.farbenmix.de/anleitungen/anleitungenen.htm .  Now, you have a resource to check to see if the English instructions are available online. The sewing guides are great because you can see step-by-step the way to sew the patterns.

If it isn’t available in English and the English instructions are not online, you can try going to: http://www.farbenmix.de/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=356&Itemid=388  or http://farbenmix.com/anleitungen/anleitungen.htm

These are the German sewing guides.  There are also inspirational pictures available.  They will give you many ideas of how to embellish your garments.    I know they are in German, but you can tell a lot about how to sew the pattern by looking at the pictures.

Give them a try!  You never know…your favorite pattern may be in a language that you don’t understand.

I do speak German, but I don’t speak “sewing” in German, so these links are awfully helpful. Also, I have purchased a couple of Farbenmix eBooks in German and the photo walk-throughs are fantastic!

I just received five Farbenmix patterns from a blog buddy of mine. Only one has the English translation with it. Thanks for the above links – they were extremely helpful for two of the patterns.
