Disney’s Hollywood Studios

January 21, 2009

IMG_0974I thought the best way to share our vacation was to break it down into the different parks that we visited.  We arrived on Sunday night and checked into Disney’s All-Star Music Budget hotel.  We got a great deal on the room rate…$49/ night.  We just couldn’t pass it up!  On Monday morning, we set out for Disney’s Hollywood Studios…you may recall that it used to be MGM Studios, but has been renamed.

The kids were all excitement and smiles.  They couldn’t wait to get moving.  We hopped on the bus to the park, and off we went onIMG_0981 our first day of adventures.

Our first stop was by chance.  Miss Sid happened to see Daisy and Minnie and wouldn’t do anything else until she had their signatures in her book and gave them a great big hug.

Little Man like all boys his age is a huge Power Rangers fan, so this was our second stop in the park.  He’s very shy so he didn’t want to get too close to them, but Miss Sid would have joined their team if they had a little spandex suit in her size.  She took me from Ranger to Ranger getting their autographs and hugging on them.  It was one of the most precious things that I’ve seen.

Then, we rode several rides.  There is a fun Star Wars ride, a Muppets Show, an action packed Indiana Jones stunt show, a fun block party parade, a Honey, I Shrunk the Kids play area, Play House Disney, a fun Little Mermaid show, and so much more.  Miss Sid is a lot more brave than her brother, but size holds her back for now.  I did manage to talk my son into doing most of the things, though.  He seemed to like the Star Wars Ride and Indiana Jones show the best.  We stayed in the park the entire day, and at the end they have a fabulous Fantasmica show.  I can’t even put it into words.  Mickey does battle with all of the villains amidst fireworks and water.  It is beautiful and so moving.

It was a wonderful first day.  We were so tired at the end,but knew we had an entire week that we had to complete.  I’ll leave you with a few more scenes from our first day at Disney.
